Joint Chapter Event in Olten
Coaching to High Performance:
Parallels and Differences between Sports & Business

Speaker: Marius Boesch

After the warm response from last year’s joint event in Olten, we are delighted to invite you to join us again for this year’s shared event.

More and more coaches are comparing sports with business and are drawing parallels between the two worlds. But is it possible to compare these two fields which seem to be very different at a first sight? What are similarities and differences between the two? And: what are the principles that are true for both fields and can be applied in both settings?

Marius Boesch was a professional ice hockey player for 16 years. He worked together with an experienced business coach for five years and is now coaching individual sportsmen, sports teams, SME’s, entrepreneurs, leaders, sales men and business teams on their way to peak performance.

He will share his experience, his insights as well as the two to three most effective coaching formats that he is working with. Finally, he will let you experience what is working and what not!

The participants will:

    • gain awareness of similarities and differences between sports and business environment

    • recognise aspects of the “winning spirit” and able to support their coachees in establishing it.

    • use sporting metaphors as an inspiring resource

    • learn about the concept of “silence, focus and power” as a solid base for success

    • experience the five ‘most’ important criterias of successful teams.

Marius Boesch is a former professional ice hockey player (goalie) in Switzerland and played for various Swiss Hockey Leagues (NLA & NLB) over a period of 16 years. Early on in his career, he learnt to deal with different topics such as:

    • Motivation and performing under pressure and achieving goals

    • Mental strength and the power of “inner pictures”

    • Group and team dynamics, working in high performance teams

    • Cooperation and teamwork

    • Leadership styles and their influence on the team performance

    • Communication, non-verbal and verbal feedback, conflict resolution

    • Communication, media, public speaking

    • Effect of emotions on body and mind

Since 2004 Marius Boesch has been an independent entrepreneur and as a trainer and coach supports his clients from various industries including banking, IT-companies, sport clubs, SME’s and universities. He designs and delivers tailored-made trainings on topics such as “Leadership”, “team dynamics and building winning teams”, “communications, sales and negotiation” and “mental strengths: peak performance when it counts!”. As an inspiring speaker he manages it successfully to drawing parallels between sports and business.
