Cultural differences are recorded in the language. As virtual coaching is gaining popularity worldwide, the need of taking into consideration opportunities and challenges offered by coaching in a non-native language is becoming more and more significant to guarantee the respect of language and coaching diversity.
Can coaching in a non-native language impact establishing a clear coaching agreement?
Effective, direct communication is the foundation of the coaching session. As coaches, we must thoroughly inquire and explore how our clients are interpreting the components of the partnership as framed in the markers of this Core Competency.
A recent survey conducted in a global learning community highlighted some of the challenges of establishing the agreement without clarity and/or a full exploration of what the client means when committing to the agreement. As a result, the coaching session could lose impact and effectiveness. The survey also provided insight on coach’s need for specific training and strategies for managing the coach-client relationship in a diverse language context.
Participants will be engaged in a real-time survey and a coaching demo.
