The Power of Self-Acceptance

Moderators: Carl Emerson & Marina Riedi

The ability to accept a person who isn’t sharing your values or to accept a situation that enfolds in an undesired way requires a lot of inner strength. It is easy to say: “I accept it” but it may take years until one really does. Having the ability to accept things is powerful. It gives us a peace of mind and a relief in heart; it saves us from anger and from resistance.
Accepting who we are is a powerful first step in being able to accept others or a situation. When we discover something about ourselves: our abilities, deficiencies, skills, needs; when we reflect upon our past and present…any of these things, then we have to follow this discovery with acceptance.
In this workshop we will explore how we view ourselves and how we want to view ourselves in the area of self-acceptance. Together we will look at the hindrances we face and discuss how these can be overcome. Through metaphors and creative thinking, we will find ways to support ourselves and those around us to attain a deeper state of acceptance for who we are. This experience will strengthen our foundation for personal growth and external contribution.

By attending this workshop you will find out:

  • What stands behind self-acceptance and why is it so important?
  • How much do I accept myself?
  • How can I start to accept myself more?
  • What is possible for me as I grow this inner muscle?
  • The link between self-acceptance and appreciation.
  • How to increase an individual’s self-acceptance through external and internal appreciation.

Please come with a curious mind, an openness to explore and a willingness to contribute. Together, in an interactive, supportive and safe environment we will investigate, discover and grow in the area of self-acceptance.

Marina Riedi is a trainer on Emotional Intelligence and a Professional Certified Coach ICF. Before becoming a trainer and coach, Marina Riedi worked for 20 years in the corporate world. Among her experiences, her job as a project manager for IBM Switzerland and leading her own trading company had the most impact. During these years she realized that one of the keys to leading a company or managing a project is the ability to understand and manage one’s own emotions and the emotions of other people. This is exactly what Emotional Intelligence is about. Fascinated by how Emotional Intelligence can influence people’s success and well-being, and pushed by her entrepreneurial gene, Marina founded EQ Power in 2012 to provide trainings and assessments on Emotional Intelligence.
